Damn! How come you know me so well? I NEVER make something I've made before when guests come--- perhaps in the hopes that something new will succeed where the already tried has failed? I am reading recipes even as I type and watch the (boring) market. I feel the optimism rising---maybe this time, maybe this time, my mind says seductively, you will make a tomato tart that doesn't turn into watery tomato soup with limp crust pieces floating in it. Do you notice I am babbling-- this is how I cope. ANd dreams- I was telling the guys one last night and they refused to believe me; they said no one dreams in scenes and chapters. But they are WRONG.
