Kash - RE: " I really wish AMD was trying to market the Athlon rather than waiting for the OEMS. They need to build a brand, and by the looks of the current launch they don't have a clue."

During the CC, AMD said to raise MG&A estimates by a few million (compared to Intel's 300M for PIII) because of Athlon launch. So they ARE planning to do some type of promotion. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything like that of any sort. I assume they are waiting for OEM systems to actually become available, but as you said, they need to make a market for the Athlon.

Have you seen the Saturn ads for their new LS sedan? Something like that which leaves you hanging and makes you somewhat curious prior to OEM availability would ge great.

I disagree. AMD need to market the Athlon only when they can build enough of them. Right now (this quarter), they can only make 300000 or so and they can sell all of them. Once they ramp, starting next quarter, they will actively promote it. Right now is not the time. So far so good.
