He had other options, as so many people tried to PM him. He didn't want to hear them, practicable and sensible as I am sure that most of them were.

As one very astute person who tried to help observed, "He just wanted someone to load his gun."

Does this help to move you to an understanding that this man was already over the edge, that our attempts to help him had to be fruitless?

If a person in desperate need of therapy refuses to seek help, are you reminded of the expression, "You can lead a horse to water..."?

MB was a man in deep emotional trouble. Possibly a superb therapist could have helped him. The stumbling point is, he didn't want help really.

Try not to worry over him, E. None of us could have saved a person whose world view was so distorted and who was so determined on destruction. Let us, instead, mourn the unwitting victims of the destruction he determined.
