teflon, i am 80% msft / 20% qcom for last 4 weeks. q is nearly keeping me even what with msft's dampened condition. trying to list factors weighing softee down. as months roll by (and competitive threats to msft's "dominance" mount) i am lead to view the trial outcome as a positive --whether a settlement or an outright win. problem is waiting on the results. toying with taking 1/2 my msft holdings and splitting into more qcom, brcm, aol, lu and intc. my money is earmarked for kids college over next 6 years so safety is important. that's why i am comfortable with msft. any thoughts on relative downside risk with "diversification" into these others ...as opposed to msft at its current "beaten down" price?

as always your thoughts are appreciated

Teflon, I have to give you kudos for actually posting some non-flattering news with the countless rah rah news that is always posted here.

Tech2000 & James - take note as to the IDC survey compared to your predictions that NT5 Windows2000 will be adopted and all other OSes (like NetWare) will be dumped.

I think I would trust IDC's survey first.
