Fidelity's purchase of Ancor or any other stock isn't something I could or probably would comment on (except to ask did they invest in any other FC companies too?). The reason for that is that I'm not an investor. I simply offered my opinion on Brocade's product strengths relative to their competition. I also stated my opinion on specific competitive offerings.

This is probably a good time to point out that when I state my opinion on someone's product (like calling Ancor's product clunky), it's simply that. One person's opinion. No one should (or does I hope) make their investment decisions based on simply that, or based solely on information obtained in a message forum. I lost badly when I did it, in what turned out to be a penny stock scam. But then again I've already admitted that I'm not an investor.

So I'm back from that fiasco, to offer some technical education / evaluations, and to provide some meager attempts at clearing up market FUD, and maybe to inject some levity, into the investment discussions that center on my chosen field of work. But I am definitely biased in my product stance in this field. (As I'm sure everyone is in their field of work) In case noone can tell I believe Brocade to have the superior switch, as an example. Having said that I believe that I can (for the most part anyway) objectively discuss my reasons for said opinions.

I do from time to time post some of the reasons that support my opinion (like some of the posts on the Yahoo! ANCR message board relative to some of the feature implementations of the Ancor switch). My only (personal) stipulation is that I try to offer some other source of corroboration for the technical discussion at hand. Sources I like include industry publications and vendor product manuals. (They're generally the most accurate vendor information source, as well as they are available to the general public in some form or fashion.) In this manner anyone is free to judge the merit of what I provide by simply checking it out. (I also personally like that kind of debate better...)

To those intrepid souls who have read this far, and since this is about investing (and after already admitting that I am not an investor... go figure), I want to propose someone else's investment advice in lieu of anything intelligent I could say on the subject. First off, I do believe the market potential for the FC network space is as promising as the LAN network space is today. If we knew then, what we know now, we would probably have very different positions in companies like Cisco, and others in the LAN space today. The difference is that the FC network space is JUST starting. So my second hand advice is plan on diversifying investments into the best (determined through good old fashioned DD) FC companies around, and then hang on.. Sounds pretty dull I admit, but it's the only thing that seems to actually provide return on investment..

BTW.. My opinion on the next big technlogical advancement in FC? Software... (boy I bet THAT was a revelation..) I state that because I don't know where it's coming from, or who's building it, only that it WILL be built.. (I suppose if we all keep an eye out?...)
