Howard, I am not shocked by reports like that. The only thing I find shocking is that there are so few such reports. I never heard of stockplayer.com or its merry band of thieves. Has anyone else? The only "warning" I can find on SI is this (July 27, 1999), and it is only the barest hint of a warning...just a mention of the stockplayer web site on StockDetective's list:www2.techstocks.com The same article is repeated in another earlier post, and there are a few references from members to stockplayer as a source for info on companies. Then nothing until today's news article. Golly, with some members SI touting their skills at exposing such frauds, you'd have thought someone would have come up with something? Stockplayer.com must not have had any missing r's or dollar signs to give anyone a clue. Ah, but wait! Here's a clue: "Three of those who were arrested and charged had been barred from the securities industry before. " I'm sure it just slipped by those who have appointed themselves to save the rest of us from ourselves. I mean is it unreasonable to expect that those whose stated goal is to expose stock frauds and paid touts, etc., to do research on those associated with KNOWN internet stock promotion outfits? (that's a rhetorical question) Stockdetective did do the hard work of finding the site, after all. I guess if you are obsessed with harassing shareholders, and scouring RB for cut and paste research, including nominations to Thread Morons, you don't have much time left for finding very many real crooks. Not to mention being the god of your own universe -- that's a full time job, I'm sure! Howard, thanks for bringing this news to our attention! PCM GO PABN!!!
