This first quarter "is shaping up according to Street expectations," said Punk Ziegel & Co. analyst Gary Abbott. He said he spoke to the company last Friday and got the impression that the quarter "is shaping up like they suggested" after reporting fourth-quarter results.

"This is going to be a real important quarter for them," Abbott said, noting that it will indicate which quarter was an anomaly - the third or the fourth.

Oracle has a lot of things working in its favor. It has a booming business in customer relationship management and strategic procurement - two of the hottest areas in enterprise software. Its aggressive marketing of its Internet strategy appears to be winning on the public relations front.

Oracle has typically retooled its sales force in the first quarter. This time, Oracle accomplished much of the reorganization earlier than usual, which should give the company "more selling days and less distraction," Abbott said.

Oracle's performance of late certainly leaves something to be desired. Seems like LE lacks credibility on the Street.
For example, JJ Cramer said in last nights Yahoo chat:

"I am not a big fan of oracle and in fact I agree with my, partner, Jeff Berkowitz, when he said this weekend on TSC/Fox show that ORCL is way too inconsistent to bet on."

Are there any other explanations or concerns for the stock's listless behavior?
