>>>Also, my earlier post had more to do with a few wise guys using the room for their personal benefit, than the usefulness of the chats.<<<<<

I still don't understand the difference between this and any other information you gather. If you make a mistake playing a penny that is clearly manipulated then you eat it. Just like if you weren't paying attention to Dell's earnings...Hazards of the road.

It's not just chat rooms either. Who played Cel Sci yesterday or Pair or UPCA, or any biotech 'surething' meeting with the FDA? I reckon it boils down to what your opinion of how much DD is fair and reasonable and what falls in the category of scam.

Now if you run a chat room and you promise big bucks to your subscribers then that is one thing.

If you're front running your trades and making money off of your sheep I still think that's quite another. Everybody's capital, trading ability, and interpretations are too different for me to assume that they are doing it intentionally, or with any malice.

hi mark, i've always planned to write a column with excerpts from the transcript from some popular mIRC chat alongside a chart of the stock under "discussion," to compare what folks were saying at what time precisely correlated with the price action. Unfortunately I don't think the mIRC transcripts are archived anywhere (but I think they're time stamped)... if anyone could tell me where to find a transcript, or send me the complete transcript from some chat room, I'd be much obliged.

Hope no smartass steals this excellent idea from me and does it first, lol.

Todays NY times has a great article by GRETCHEN MORGENSON
in the biz section, re: IMAA and last weeks fireworks. Well know 'advisor' Tokyo Joe/Mex has his minions all worked up about this one, and big money was made, and probably lost by some.

If you're daytrading, you'd best be aware of the power of these self proclaimed stock wizards and their followers.

PS. Of TJ's 900 subscribers, how many are sincere believers and how many are simply interested in frontrunning the crowd? Could be 10-1 frontrunners and no one would know the difference, as the stock price would levitate just the same.
