Yes, I've heard that sound too... amazing the musical sounds that come from ice, rivers and forests...

However, I am reminded of a "not so nice" sound. A year ago last January, our region was hit by a highly destructive ice storm. Power lines were knocked down to the ground for a few miles in each direction from our farm.

Everyone in this area still talks about how, as the ice built up on the trees, there was the continuous crashing of trees breaking in the forest. The sound went on for three days..the steady crashing of ice-laden branches and treetops breaking off and falling to the ground. And I don't mean one a minute, but continuously, a few every few seconds. It was like gunshots and breaking glass non-stop for three days. The noise worsened as the temperature went up because some of the trees were only being held together by the ice that coated them. If you talk to any of the rural people out around here, they'll tell you that's a sound they probably will never forget for the rest of their lives...

Edited post, you guys are talking about beautiful things and my post was too mundane. Don't want to be a wet blanket. I'll post it another time.
