I went to school up in Schenectady, NY. The "New Wave Circuit" was something like New Haven, Providence, Boston, Albany, and NYC, so I went to tons of shows in Albany for free since I was either a director or manager of my school radio station for three years and got to interview a ton of bands. As for the Ritz, I saw only a few shows there. One was the Go Gos with opening act Oingo Boingo. I knew both bands pretty well and had interviewed both. At the show I ran into Joey Ramone who I also knew pretty well (Joey was the first guy to ever let me try out a Walkman; he had bought his in Japan).

BTW, the person who invited me to the MTV party was Martha Quinn. Back when MTV had first started I called the studio and talked to her for quite some time about how I thought they could improve. Turned out her parents were in nearby Troy, NY and she and I were supposed to get together when she came up. Alas that never happened but I did get to talk to her at the party.

I could spend a year telling you all my stories so don't get me started (gg).
