[amusing- in a twisted kindof way] hi ray, yes that quote about israeli entrepreneurs from henry nada is very good .. and as you put it, we recognize it... :) orct might just have a double or even triple dose... which is ok by me (at this stage)... --- last year found this globes' article very amusing- in a twisted kindof way ... and you know what? on reread it's still pretty good :) ... ORCT had just nailed one of the biggest deployments in the world and... Izhak won't even do an ("open") interview ... particularly like the optimism about the "cracks ... in the shrouds of secrecy.." this has to be somewhere off the charts on lack of hype ... :) ... and these comments are coming from the business press in a very small country about one of their own: even they can't find out anything.. :) ... the best that can be mustered is enthusiasm about the glimmer of a promise of info... :) "Orckit Expands Sideways By Efi Landau Even Orckit's win in the large tender of the US telephone company GTE, one of the eight largest telephone companies in the world, did not persuade company president Yitzhak Tamir to grant an open, on the record, press interview. However, cracks can be seen in the shrouds hiding the company from the media, contributing perhaps to the recognition that the company's most precious asset is its workers, and it cannot hurt if more is known about them. Orckit was established in 1990 by Military Intelligence electronic unit 8200 graduates Eric Paneth and Yitzhak Tamir. The unit has provided Israeli high-tech a significant proportion of its engineers and managers. Paneth was commander of the unit, replacing Zohar Zisappel, chairman of the RAD-Bynet group..." --- maybe i've followed (or at least tried to follow) orct too long and have been infected somehow .. but this doesn't bother me at all :) .. and here's my rationalization: believe orct has made it as far as they have because they can keep a secret ... or put another way: can be counted on by their strategic partners and customers to take care of business in a very businesslike and discrete (to the max) manner which will reveal the absolute minimum to the competition... this is high stakes stuff and would think pr (or other) "leaks" in this context would be inappropriate in a big way ... expect that these same, maybe somewhat paranoid tendencies help orct maintain their balance with their strategic partners who not only often compete with each other, but who might very well like to either swallow orct, or take over their marketshare/product... as is said, "just cause you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you" ;) looking at this another way, given a choice between charming analysts/press or surviving/succeeding in the marketplace, the latter might be preferable ... as it ultimately will lead to the former ;) actually have found the cc's quite interesting and open.. and so far so good on managing expectations best wishes s
