Eric (or anyone),

I am not at all an expert in economics or money supply so I have the following question: Wouldn't a rise in interest rates help defend the dollar in it's current downdraft? By increasing the Fed funds rate, they would be decreasing liquidity. My next two questions... 1. Does an increase in interest rates decrease the money supply and 2. I assume a decrease in money supply would make the dollar rise?

If this is in fact true, a 1/4 point may not be enough, if the Fed is wanting to defend the dollar, a larger increase may be necessary...

Just idle thoughts while sipping chablis....

Chris

Ok. Yal remember that lunie, Crawkford? It sounds like he got that darn Turkey earthquake TO THE DAY. Well, look at this:

weather.com

That is hurricane Andrea force. It has gone from a cat 2 to at cat 4 in just FOUR hours! Guess what Crawkford's next date is? 8/24/99. Guess about when landfall is? 8/23/99.

This is starting to get a little spooky.
