Monday August 23, 4:53 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: Digital Microwave Corporation Digital Microwave Corporation Releases DXR 700 Radio for U.S. Deployments SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC), today announced that its new DXR(TM) 700 radio is now available in frequencies and standards complying with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Successful completion of the testing of the DXR 700 radio platform paves the way for deployment of the radio in telecommunications networks in the U.S. and other areas of the world, such as Taiwan, where ANSI rates of DS-1 to DS-3 are employed. Introduced in February this year, the DXR 700 platform is a point-to-point digital microwave radio developed at the Company's Wellington, New Zealand R&D facility. The DXR 700 radio is designed to satisfy network operator demand for flexibility, performance and growth in transmission capacities. The radios are particularly suited for use by utility companies, CLECs, IXCs and others who require reliable, long-haul trunking radios. The ANSI DS-1 to DS-3 rates that are now available use either 16 or 64 QAM modulation schemes. Previously introduced in the DXR 700 product line were the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) radio models which operate across a range of capacities from 2xE1 to 2xE3, also using 16 or 64 QAM modulation. The DXR 700 platform covers multiple frequencies from 2 GHz to 11 GHz. Specifically targeting medium-capacity requirements of utilities, government bodies, and fixed or wireless providers, the DXR 700 is suited to applications demanding high-performance, spectrally efficient digital radio solutions. ``The release of an optimum performance, medium-capacity product for the North American market re-affirms DMC's commitment to be a single-source provider of microwave radio solutions across global markets,' commented Charles D. Kissner, Digital Microwave Corporation's chairman and CEO. ``The DXR 700 can be deployed in networks along with our OC-3 and mid-capacity radios to provide a complete wireless transmission solution.' Headquartered in San Jose, California, Digital Microwave Corporation provides microwave radio solutions to connect, enable and grow communications networks worldwide. The Company's broadband to medium- and low-capacity radios transport data, voice and video for public and private networks in metropolitan to rural environments.
