I think the rationalizing has to do with both the beneficiary class and benefits for the programs. They expanded the SSDI (disability income) under Bush/Democrats in 1990/1991. Clinton recently tried to lower the entry age for Medicare to 1962 and to add universal drug benefits.

Much of the fault lies with the Democratic Congress of the 70's who voted huge increases in SS benefits, some years 20% or more.

Just an update: George Wilkes Bush came under heavy criticism today by fellow conservatives Gary Bauer and Orrin Hatch over the cocaine issue; while conservative publisher Malcolm S. "Steve" Forbes is reportedly leading the charge behind the scenes. GWB is said to believe this will all "blow over."

And, hey, Jim and Les, you're borrrring us with what you can and can't read using various browsers. You're both absolutely the bee's knees, but puhleeze private message some of these technical issues. Thanks.
