AOL does not sleep!.....AOL Europe will launch its new free Internet access service in Great
Britain next week. Chief executive Andreas Schmidt confidently said, "We
already have more revenue (from advertisers and e-commerce partners)
lined up than Freeserve generated in its first year," the Associated Press
reported. The new Netscape Online service is expected to begin offering
access next Tuesday. users will pay only for local phone calls. Schmidt
indicated other European free access services from AOL (AOL: news,
msgs) are possible. "The cost would be pretty low," he told an
interviewer. "We'd just have to put out Netscape Online CDs and get the
local content. We could do it almost instantly."
