Well, I don't think there are many Republicans that support abortion rights. But Dole and McCain are less hard right on this issue than the others. If this is a very important issue for you, then I don't think you can vote for any Republican, Michelle.

I'm not sure this is a sexist thing (as there are many Republican women who don't support Roe v. Wade), but more a question of certain political segments being more influenced by religious doctrines that oppose abortion. You'll note that McCain showed how "unwanted" children may be given a home by adopting one himself. At least he's not one to tell others to have children, and then say someone else should adopt them.

I don't think that McCain and Dole will be supporting abortion rights any time soon, but it's not a big issue with either of them. I'm convinced at this point that McCain could in general do more for the country than any of the current candidates of both parties.

<< On McCain - another republican pro-lifer, I'm afraid. >>

McCain, another republican that wants big government to take away personal freedoms.

This issue goes beyond abortion. Once the door is opened to the Federal or State government to revoke a person's right to privacy and independence, it opens up a slippery slope toward government taking away other freedoms.

We cannot allow big government to make this dangerous intrusion into our lives.

As far as McCain being moderate about abortion? He says NOW that he would allow abortion in the cases of rape, incest or to protect the life of the mother. What happens after he gives power hungry Washington politicians the say over women's reproductive rights by banning most abortions? Do you think the Republicans, who have already been willing to violate the trust of their majority power by impeaching Clinton without a fair hearing, would stop until all of a woman's reproductive rights were taken away?

After that, what rights would be taken away next?

Don't let McCain's smile fool you.
