When the price drops to $1000, I predict most everyone in the WHOLE WORLD will get laser surgery.
LOL. Guess what. There are other considerations besides the price! $ill Gates and Warren Bu$$et wear glasses. I think they could afford eye surgery if they thought it would work for sure. Heck, nobody wants to wear glasses. But I personally wouldn't get eye surgery for another 10 years, and let lots of early adopters be guinea pigs to check out the long term effects. It has nothing to do with the price. I don't even wear contacts cuz they bother my eyes. I will let about 200 million people cut in front of me on the eye surgeon's waiting list. Another consideration: you think Dow Corning had it rough with silicone implants? Guess what happens when some people go blind? Can you say class action?

Ratan:

On behalf of Unqle Franq and our threadmates, welcome.
I also had the surgery, back in '93, and have had my eyesight fully restored. Pretty good value, ie restored vision, for $2400.

Since your profile indicates you own VISX, I am sure the thread would appreciate hearing your overview of the laser vision field.
