Well, to be sure, I don't think that all the nursing students were necessarily marriage minded. In fact probably most of them were not walking around with the doctor light bulb beaming in their brains. The fact is that I think in many cases it was an issue of status as to whom one was sleeping with, never mind the marriage issue, that being I suppose icing on the cake if it ever happened. And from what I heard then, many med school students are unfortunately not averse to marrying someone to take them financially through med school, internship, and residency, and suddenly and inexplicably losing interest once the paycheck makes into six figures.
