Well, for a little while I dated an organic chemist when I was in my senior undergrad year. But she always smelled funny when she showed up for dates, usually an hour late after a frenetic phone call from the lab apprising me of the lack of progress in her latest titration or something. Her lab partner at the time unfortunately is to this day short two fingers, the victim of something that happened with lithium salts that I gather was not supposed to happen.

One of my roomies was a Chemistry major (my claim to fame roomie- the PhD from MIT). SHe didn't smell funny, like TC's date, but she did end up for a time as a partner in a company that was developing a method to convert human waste to drinking water out in space. THis was a conversation stopper at reunions. However she was great at limbo and could drink everyone under the table so we forgave her.
