True, no one organization can beat the R&D team that Linux has going for it. I have no doubt that Linux is superior to Windows. BUT, the argument here is not about Linux. It's about Red Hat. The same R&D that is available to Red Hat is also available to everyone else-- Caldera, Mandrake, etc. Whereas Microsoft is the undisputed owner of Windows and therefore entitled to all its profits, Linux belongs to everyone and no one. So the profits from Linux are going to be spread very thin. That's how I see it.
