Do you ever walk barefoot outside? I love to go barefoot, inside and out. We have a little shelf next to the door for shoes, which live by the door, but need to be elevated so Lizzie won't think they're chew toys.

<<Some folkshereabouts have dually pickups with WIDE single tires fitted in those pouchy wheelwells - >>

The whole idea of a dually is having 4 tires on one axle. Lessons sway and carries a bigger load. Oops, I forgot, you live on the left coast.

On the whole wall-to-wall carpet thing:

Carpet is immediately banned from houses where asthmatics reside, as are heavy drapes. They accumulate dust and dust mites, no matter how well kept. I know you don't suffer from my affliction, but I recall you mentioning recurring colds and respiratory naggings; you might want to think about stripping that stuff out. Asthma is not the only kind of allergy-related respiratory sensitivity.
