A very interesting point you raise, it's possible, but on the other hand INTEL is hurting themselves most, as the chipset is far more worth than the motherboard. It would make sense for INTC to play such games only after the 820 was shipping

re. patents
reading thru this, it seems to me that some of the recent discussion may not have been completely accurate.

remember i am not a techie...
nevertheless it seems that rambus is very well protected with patents that describe exactly what some seem to think is not patentable.
