<8-way servers pose IT dilemma: Managers must decide whether to buy now or wait for 64-bit Merced machines>

This is one of the dumbest articles I've ever read. Show me an IT manager who needs a server now, but is considering waiting for a year or more for Merced servers to become available. The article doesn't quote any managers who have this "dilemma". It seems that the authors just made it up.

PB,

<Ten and Thread - Article: 8-way servers pose dilemma for IT managers.
1) If Merced is so bad, what's the dilemma? :-)

2) Note both options presented are from the same chip vendor.

Man, this stuff doesn't seem to fit the mold of responsible postings you usually do!

Now, having said that PIII vs. Merced is a fair comparison. Could be a tough choice - for the low-end ;-)
