lqid - the problem with stocks in the eMusic space are a lack of standard for delivery

right now the delivery standard battle is being waged between at least mp3.com and liquid audio

mp3.com embraces the free for all model while liquid audio embraces the pay to play model

both seem extreme to me so maybe a meeting of a free AND pay to play model wins

i think both companies in this space have thought too much about technology without really thinking through the business models of the future

mp3.com's freebie parade and abundance of garbage bands hardly qualifies as a business model but it has traffic and users

liquid audio's cosying up to the record companies makes sense on the surface but the record companies are monopolistic and have no real vested interest in internet music or pioneering new things that cannibalize their tried and true revenue streams
