>>"Nine years ago I was telling people the code is broken and if we don't fix it there are going to be many consequences. I was labeled a doomsayer. My optimism today is because of the work that's been done on the problem, and now I'm a Pollyanna," said de Jager.

De jager is widely credited with first alerting industry and governments about Y2K. Five years ago he published an essay "Doomsday 2000" in Computerworld, a weekly computer trade. <<

Well there you have it, right from the experts mouth, and yet doomers continue to believe the doom. Go figure.

There are plenty of emergency command centers all around the country--many are earthquake proof and secure--they exist to provide communications centers for emergency relief operations, such as for hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. They are NOT bunkers, with all the military connotations, and nothing is being constructed specifically for Y2K, though many of them will be used as data collection centers over the date transition as part of the national reporting effort coordinated by the ICC and, in most states, carried out by the emergency management office.

It is amazing what the conspiracy theorists around us will believe. Have they no independent sense of judgment whatsoever?

>>But I'm just putting the information out there so I can sleep with a clear conscience knowing that I didn't let this conspiratorial BS go unanswered.<<
