kap - <The quote does not sound good for Merced.>

How in the world do you figure that? Merced is Intel architecture. IF MSFT ever wants to crack the 64 bit space, and they've ruled out Alpha, what other 64 bit chip are they going to go with? The article questioned MSFT and CPQ relations. I didn't see anything about strained relations between MSFT and INTC.

Kal Kan - Re: " The quote does not sound good for Merced. However, it's hard to tell from the article, unless you know something."

The quote said the Following:

"the Redmond software giant isn't going to support new NT development on any architecture other than Intel, starting in September. "

Key Phrase - Intel Architecture.

Please note - Merced is an Intel Architecture - a NEW INTEL ARCHITECTURE.
