Preferred Capital reiterates Strong Buy on NOVL

Preferred Capital Markets, Inc., a brokerage firm servicing both institutional and individual investors with a focus in technology, telecommunications and medical technology today reiterates its Strong Buy rating of Novell, Inc. (Nasdaq: NOVL) while maintaining its 6-12 month price target of $40.
Joel Achramowicz has published a brief summary outlining Novell's plans to package its competencies in distributed network services software to target the $7 billion Network Attached Storage (NAS) market.
"The Company expects to compete in the NAS market with the likes of Network Appliance (NTAP, not rated, $62 3/4), Auspex (ASPX, rated Accumulate,$10 3/4), EMC (EMC, not rated, $62 1/2), Storage Technology (STK, not rated,$20 1/16) and other players targeting this exciting growth market," Joel Achramowicz reported.

I also believe that with MSFT's recent and numerous marketing and delivery mistakes (multi-year delays on NT5, a soon to be proven immature Active Directory, being shackled from performing anti-trust violations, and its shuffling feet attitude to accept and build open-standard systems) has dramatically watered down the "Lemming Factor" that they so successfully built for themselves.

I hope so, but Windows 98 was said to not be worth it and the lemmings made it a pretty good seller. Don't underestimate the willingness of people to spend the corporate dollars, and even their own, to get the latest new edition to play around with.
