Some interesting but not necessarily good findings from N+I regarding Aware. Obviously these are not facts, only my best conclusions.

- Lucent's Stinger uses to use Alcatel silicon. They will look to other vendors in future.
- Diamond Lane (Nokia) is switching its silicon from ADI to ST Micro, which is a licensee of Alcatel technology.

There was not a whole lot of DSL products but my distinct impression is that ADI is losing ground in the most recent silicon bakeoffs. It appears that their power consumption and density are not where they need to be vs multiport, Alcatel-based solutions and some of the newer players such as Centillium (an 8 port, G.Lite only CO solution that does not depend on Aware technology; it has been selected by Copper Mtn and AFCI for G.lite).

One other interesting point that I would be interesting in someone confirming is that Covad deploys about 60% SDSL, 20% IDSL and 20% ADSL. Of this ADSL, most of it is CAP (based on Diamond Lane/ Globespan). All in all, no real positive news for ADI/ Aware at show.
