"Service revenue growth is dead" seems to me to be the writing on the wall with free e-service from Dell included with their servers and (in the future all PC's). Automated e-service will maim service revenue growth going forward.

Driving down the total cost of owning the PC by lowering the cost of service to the point that service is bundled with the PC is another evolutionary step. Service centered companies may not survive the efficiency onslaught.

Kemble, your post keeps echoing in my mind RE: "It has been said that we are the pricing pressure. Dell is the company that is essentially the one with the most advantaged cost position and we are driving a lot of the pricing pressure seen in the market."
A fabulous statement... IMO one I believe Michael should use a great deal more often...Those that follow DELL already know this..but, it surely answers the stupid questions they have had to answer far too frequently..DELL is the problem...Yes, it is high time the average person thinking of investing in the PC business understood this clearly...A great line from Michael.

Thanks,
Mike
