I believe that IBM charges heavily for their remote service. Dell is offering the service as part of warranty. This to me is the difficulty for the business model that relies on service for revenue and earnings growth. It may also be the reason Dell has not entered into a service arrangement with IBM in trade for becoming IBM's box supplier that many were excited about.
