Mike,

The stuff posted off IBM's Netfinity website comes with the package. Service at IBM covers quite a bit of ground, so you need to tell me what you think they charge extra for in order for me to answer. If you are talking strictly about the Intel based server stuff, the remote dialin has been there for some time. As for a 'service based' model for revenue growth, you have to remember that the big bucks are in design/installation, that is where IBM global services has been showing strong growth and has a 55 billion dollar backlog last I looked.

Regards,
John

Mike -
IBM, HP and CPQ remote management packages are all free with the servers. There are various additional services which can be added, such as load monitoring, resource monitoring, etc.

to me is the difficulty for the business model that relies on service for revenue and earnings growth.
You are confusing professional services with break-fix and maintenance services. The big services revenue does not come from fixing computers, it comes from planning systems, networks, management strategies, service levels, etc.
