Hi Mike:

The situation wrt cable plant upgrading may vary from
country to country, but your assumption that Europe
lags the US may not be true. For example, most of
Paris is already wired for Internet by cable. When are
we going to say the same about NYC?

Deutsche Telekom to Spend DM400 Mln on Cable Television

Berlin, Aug. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe's biggest phone company, said it will spend more than 400 million deutsche marks ($214 million) upgrading its cable television network next year.

Deutsche Telekom is selling majority stakes in its nine regional cable units to satisfy European Commission competition concerns. The Bonn-based company has received several bids, including ones from Deutsche Bank AG, the world's No.1 bank, and News Corp. the media company run by Rupert Murdoch.
