I owned a very successful direct mail advertising agency for 20 years ... I don't think there's too much you can tell me regarding collection of information and usage of that information. So, let me get this straight. You run a junk-mail shop -- essentially delivering spam at snail-mail pace -- for 20 years. And now -- NOW?? -- you're concerned that marketers may be monitoring your purchase patterns and marketing to them? NOW you're concerned about privacy issues? Hello? Ever hear of data mining? This has been going on for years without individuals' consent -- largely driven by direct-mail agencies like yours. Why weren't you concerned about congressional intervention then? Does applying sophisticated Web automation to the process somehow make what you were doing for 20 years suddenly illegal?

Thanks for the feedback, but I can't find symbols for Naviant or HotData. Are they listed? It looks like ENGA and DCLK have captured the imagination of the internuts though. In this new digital age--the internet, digital video recorders, cable boxes, MP3 downloads, maybe even just the new digital TV's-- can all be mining data. A new industry! If they did the demographics on my commercial preferences, I would be bombarded with Taco Belle commercials with the chihuahua. They never seem to get old. And 39 cent tacos! How can they make money? There is a new Taco Belle near my office that has a ground beef dispenser like a milk shake dispenser. Not that's efficient!
