It would be a clever move of Turkeys politicians to claim, once the most immediate consequences of the quake are overcome, international help for their pipeline project as part of Western help to help themselves. They might try to make it look as if all former problems were less important than the quake consequences... So it might turn out the quake works the other direction after all.

BTW, George, when (not which time of day, but which day of the year) did Carrington state that?
