I'm not too concerned about the Gemstar/TVGIA thing. I don't think you can patent presentation (IE how the windows look on the screen) but I may be wrong. What you can patent is the algorithm underneath. If TVGIA is using IATV technology for their interactivity, then that technology is protected by the IATV patent and thus could not be infringing on the Gemstar patent. However, I don't know anything directly about the situation. There could be some other aspect of the TVGIA product that Gemstar's patent would cover. I couldn't tell from reading the press release... I do recall some hubub about this very topic many months ago - a fight between TVGIA and Gemstar maybe? If that's the case, you gotta figure TVGIA has a backup plan... They've already promised release of the technology in Sep/Oct - if they don't deliver they'll look real bad. -Mike
