Wrong Again, larsen-

<<The contributors to this thread have always conducted themselves to a high intellectual and moral standard...>>
Maybe you haven't been on the thread long enough to recall the absolute outrage that my complaint about plagiarism on this thread provoked, and I'm not gonna research it. But you've been around this thread a while, and my guess is you were around then. Besides, I already know you make claims that are untrue. Or is plagiarism- and the morally pathetic justifications that were used to defend it on this thread- part of your idea of a "high intellectual and moral standard?" I doubt you know what the words mean- care to justify your vacuous, vicious little smear against Reagan? Oh, but I forget that such smears are acceptable standard fare for you "moral intellectual types".

<<No Larry, you didn't directly accuse anyone of thuggery, you just presumed to admonish Marvin not to!>> Thank you for your clarification. Matter of fact, I didn't accuse any person of anything. Care to admit that too? My comment about resorting to thuggery was not particularly addressed to Marvin as an individual as much as it was to union behavior in general. If Marvin indicates he feels personally affronted I will deal with that in due course. But since there is an ample history on the part of unions in this country engaging in the kind of activity to which I referred, no I do not think it is an arrogance on my part- it's simply a recognition of reality.

I notice you have not bothered to answer the questions I have put before you. Part of you "high intellectual" standards, no doubt. Right up there with vapid references to the years of the "robber barons" that witnessed the greatest accumulation of wealth and improvements in living standards in the history of mankind. Perhaps you find my questions inconvenient, and it is oh so much easier to make false claims that I <<accus[ed] people [I] don't even know of the potential of "thugery">>.

<<engaging in personal attacks (of me and Marvin)>>
Finally, I engaged in no personal attacks against Marvin. You, on the other hand, initiated false claims about me. If you think- make that emote- that I am in violation of SI rules, you are welcome to contact SI. But given your record of accuracy, I wouldn't assume SI would see things likewise.

<<You can continue to try to drag this thread down your ideological pit if you wish, but not with me>>
Don't know what you mean by "ideological pit", but shall be delighted not to engage in dialog with you.

<<keep the ideological crap to yourself>>
But you, of course, are free to besmirch the good name of Ronald Reagan without so much as an attempt at justifying your inane claim, and to make false claims about me. Guess that must be a privilege that accrues to you as a result of your high intellectual and moral stature. You, sir, are an arrant fool, devoid of the most meager means of intellectual discourse.

Cheers,

Larry

P.S. From your prior post. <<The average IAM worker at Boeing only makes about $40k/year>>
From the NY Times article in my post to Marvin:
<<The workers covered by the contract earn more than $40,000 a year on average -- not including overtime, which can swell wages to more than twice that level during periods of particularly heavy production.>>
I'm sure it must feel positively liberating to be freed from the weighty burden of accuracy. FYI & FWIW, most of the time when I work OT, it is compensated in the usual manner- that is to say the OT is not compensated directly at all- so I'm not exactly moved to great compassion for the plight of Boeing's machinists. For the most part, they well earn their market wage- but, oh, perhaps I lapse into "intellectual crap". And of course, your and the Times' $40K figure does not even purport to reflect the actual costs to Boeing of maintaining one their IAM employees on the payroll- but I don't mean to burden your mind with such complexities that I assume would be beyond your ken.

Postscipt, larsen-

I'm going to assume that part of my alleged "intellectual crap" and "ideological pit" was my comments about the early days of capitalism in this country in my post #2419. A fair assumption, I would say, given that you could not bestir yourself to identify what you meant by "intellectual crap" (again, the unsubstantiated calumny being right up your alley- it beats having to make a cogent point, doesn't it larsen?) They were in response to your direct question to me: viz.:
<<What do you want for the working class of this country? A fallback to the robber baron days? >>

Well I guess that's just about the kind of cheap, tawdry, mindless criticism I should expect out someone of your obvious limitations.

Larry
