PLT for a Monday bounce too--from jtodd2 on the yhoo thread: Taking the company at its word, this looks to be one of those opportunities that is handed to level-headed investors (true investors) occasionally. I don't expect PLT to be back at $70 for some time, but today's price action seems overdone. At $53.125, PLT's current-year PE ranges from 15.0 (53/$3.55) to 14.3 (53/$3.70), based on the range for year-end EPS estimates provided by the company. The growth in EPS will be 18% (using $3.55) to 23% (using $3.70). Furthermore, the slowdown in orders has been attributed to inventory reductions and Y2K issues, implying that in the future, revs would presumably ramp back. So, the stock's valuation is unquestionably reasonable today, and VERY cheap if future growth resumes anything remotely similar to recent growth. For a company with net margins greater than 20%, this appears to be a classic Buffett situation. The stock's price action over the next year is likely to be very favorable for those entering at this level. Brave souls will profit handsomely.
