Heres an interesting PR on procurement software (focus on Oracle). Nothing new really, they mention Arba as the clear leader, Oracle moving along... but whats really interesting is how far behind Sap is. Man Sap really has vision problems if you ask me... its one thing to replicate SCM technology but procurement? I always thought they were more a victim of luck than skill anyway.

``We're just at the beginning of the procurement market,' said Laurie Orlov, an analyst with market researcher Forrester Research. ``It's not to say SAP won't get there, it's just that Oracle is ahead of them right now.' According to a recent report by Orlov, she said Oracle told her that is has 75 companies now using its procurement software, compared with three customers for SAP.

``It was pretty ugly at the beginning but if they (Oracle) can claim 75 customers they must have worked out the kinks,' Orlov said.

Even so, the clear No. 1 player in procurement is Ariba Inc. (Nasdaq:ARBA - news), which in June held a phenomenally successful initial public offering, Orlov said.
