Is it "sub-par?" Or is it just "different" or maybe even "better?"

Even if it is "sub-par," will it stay that way under new management?

Is Star Office going to be free? If so, Microsoft is screwed - most people dont use 95% of the features in their office suite and arent going to pay half the price of their computer every time microsoft feels it needs to juice their revenue stream with an upgrade. Desktop applications are becoming a commodity - heck the desktop OS is a commodity with Linux.

disclaimer: I use Microsoft office at work on windows 95 (along with a Sun Ultra workstation) but save my documents religiously as i fear the system crash that comes inevitably - as often as 2-3 times per day. I dont know how much my company pays for office but i personally wouldnt pay anything for it if i had a choice of a free office suite.
