My feeling: Quayle has not a hope in hell. Why he and others are wasting money on his behalf escapes me. In my family alone I count eleven registered Republicans and not one vote for any right to life type candidate over the past ten years. Quayle has that right to life hat pulled down so hard it is down to his nose.

I wonder how AlGore is going to explain the $15 billion - mostly US taxpayer money - that he lost to the Russian mob/corruption. That was his project as he so often claimed.

I think you give people too much credit for actually thinking. I don't get the feeling that people regret turning out Bush the elder. GWB appears to most a standup guy, smart, take charge, with good blood lines (both mom and dad). If his resume is good in Texas, people like him. It's a simple gut feel thing.

Quayle, although much smarter than he shows, is a loser. He has been branded an idiot and people don't want an idiot in the WH. He doesn't have the charisma of Bush, the warmth of E. Dole, the fire of Buccanan, or the hero status of McCain. There is no reason for most to vote for him.

Quayle will never be taken seriously. He reputation is that of an amiable dolt; sort of the Yogi Berra of American politics.
