<<First DSL, then prepaid internet, then unified messaging?>>

N2P has unified messaging product working now? wow! did you know that GTE is also very excited about this service as they launched it in June this year and boasted that the demand for unified messaging could push the entire messaging market to $2.2B or $3B by year 2002. Microsoft has been talking about this product but has not even announced anything yet.

<GTE unveiled a new service that combines email, voice mail, and faxes, letting customers nationwide retrieve their messages in one place.

The service will cost about $15 to $20 a month and be offered later this month to GTE's local customers and to other phone companies that will resell the service. The universal messaging service lets users receive email and faxes over the phone and voice mail through a PC.

GTE, the No. 3 U.S. local phone company which is set to be acquired by Bell Atlantic, is pushing to sell more high-profit enhanced services as it faces unprecedented competition in its local markets. GTE expects the new service to eventually replace separate voice mail and email accounts, boosting the market to $2.2 billion to $3 billion by 2002.>
