I agree with you that it was curious that Bre-X being a hoax wouldn't be bullish for gold--no 200,000 oz bonanza coming down the pike. But confidence, which is the primary factor in markets, evaporated with regards to metals at that point. The only positive thing I can think of is that low POG and POS = higher mindless consumption. For silver, once used it's getting awful hard to replace.

Searle is right though--even I was unaware of gold production being so high. Silver production is falling though. --Al
