Binx,

Is that cool, or what???

Canon is trying to cash in on its successful line of point-and-shoot cameras including the series which I believe was called "ELPH" which included some APS-type offerings. They would do well to introduce a digital SLR on the coattails of the "Rebel" or "EOS" lines.

The newer higher resolution Canon digital cameras play off this form factor.

I think that device manufacturers (digital cameras, mp3 players, PDA's...) are beginning to realize that a fairly sized fraction of the public does not wish to have to putz around too much on the PC unless so motivated. The CF slot on the printer is one solution. That is a shame, because I still believe that a simple parallel or USB port connection to a card reader such as ImageMate and a straight forward editing program is all that is needed for a digital darkroom. You can get along pretty well with just those features alone.

The situation gets much more complicated with mp3 given the various CODEC's being presented and the security features incorporated into content. In the final analysis, good old mp3 will likely remain highly popular given its audio quality, simplicity and lack of encumbrances.

Having said that, the average teenager or 20-something usually will put up with some software manipulation and file transfers even if they are relatively complicated. They tend to see it as a challenge. And if they troubleshoot the problem successfully it is an ego booster. Whereas the average 30-something (and older) just gets a headache.

I have some interesting Cassiopeia E-100 stories to share!

JJB -

In addition, the PowerShot S10 is compatible with Type I and Type II CompactFlash* memory cards, including IBM?s 340MB microdrive, allowing hundreds of images to be stored at high resolution and more than 1,000 images at lower resolutions.

?????

Best regardss,
