Microsoft Brings in Top Talent to Pursue the Tablet Computer
By JOHN MARKOFF

Hoping to fulfill a dream that has eluded the industry for nearly three
decades, a team of designers from the Microsoft Corp. is trying to
create a so-called tablet computer. The portable, wireless, keyboardless
device would be about the size and weight of a writing tablet and be
intended to serve most of a person's everyday computing and Net-surfing
needs.

Eric, American Express is rolling out a "Blue" card which has a chip in it to enable smart card services. Have you heard much about this? I'm a bit unclear where this product falls in the big picture.

Is this interesting from the point of who's providing the hardware or software? Sometimes these announcements put a clear seal of approval on a technology.
