This right did not protect the citizenry at all from the dictator. My view is that people falsely believe that keeping guns will protect them from the loss of our democracy

The problem with that statement is we'll never know if it's true... You see, A few months before Hitler invaded Poland in "39", He sent out his Jackbooted Thugs, with the lists of registered firearms owners and confiscated them. Any who resisted were shot!!!!!! So your premise that arms will not protect you is false. They never had a chance to defend themselves. So they had to fall in line or end up dead..

If they ever try to get mandatory registration of firearms in this country?? I'll tell you right now ...I'll never comply.

Thanks
C

One of most confounding questions of this century has been why did a cultured country such as Germany elect a barbarian like Hitler. One often overlooked fact is that Berlin in the 20s was a cesspool of vice and decadence. (Some would say openness and experimentation.) There was open homosexuality, androgyny was in vogue, it was a pretty freewheelin' place. The culture shock was even more acute so soon after the Victorian period. A lot of Germans were put off by this and I think were willing to overlook his shortcomings if he would just clean up the place. He cleaned it up, alright.

Unfortunately, there is some truth to your points about the coming tyranny being justified psychologically and enacted through propaganda, against which guns are no defense.

Of course, our guns are part of the reason that these measures will have to be enacted surreptitiously. If we weren't armed, the tyrants wouldn't have to go to all of that trouble.
