I think when the consuming public realized the depth of information being compiled on them, anonymously or not ... the chit will hit the fan. >>They're developed through a user's browsing behavior on participating Web sites, and from information users voluntarily declare in online registration forms and other signups.<< Recent news articles in the NY Times and others confirm the Annual Georgia Tech Study gvu.gatech.edu that 70% of everyone completing onsite registration information intentionally "fibs" about the information provided. Not only does this fill databases with nothing but garbage (GIGO) ... it also serves as an indicator regarding the willingness of the consumers, voluntarily or surrepticiously, to have their surfing activites monitored. This will be my final word on this subject as sparring with the ignorant and uninformed ain't my style.
