And your post gets my vote for the "Please take a big handful of Prozac" award for this weekend.

A perfect example of why I read so few posts on this thread.

Brian P.: I'm mighty proud of you!!!

You're the kind of guy who can make these SOBs come to their senses. Come back frequently. I know it's hard, but I'm confident you can prevail over the unusual challenge.

Again, let me say, "a job well done."

Regards,

Beni2 Mick Mormony

Mr. Greenspan is only the messenger I agree. And he is delivering the message from whom? for want of a better word, those who control most of the financial assets of the United States. He represents the Board of Governors. He represents our betters. Those who invest but, of course, never speculate.
They think their invesment club is becoming a vulgar casino and they do not approve.
I read the messsage loud and clear.
I will sell one half my holdings at the open tomorrow.
I will not re-enter this market on margin until at least after Oct. 5, 1999.
The only thing worse than no regulation of the stock market is regulation.
The game is rigged. The Establisment, what we vulgarians would call the House, is going to win big in the Casino this fall and why not, they have the edge, thanks to Mr. Greenspan, He works for them, you know. Every time we place our bets, he comes around and says, "inexplicable." He is their official heckler. His job is to unnerve us. He does it well.
October approaches, end of the fiscal year. Prime time to enrich the yacht club trophy fund.
We are rattled; they are old shoe; loosey-goosey.
What if I went into one of their clubs and heard them discussing a merger and acqusition and I said "inexplicable" what would they say?
Call security, they would say. There is a most rude fellow here...

Re: "Finally a rational and thoughtful adult voice amongst all these children screaming and egging each other on about the big bad boogey-man Alan Greenspan and how he's taking away their candy"

Hey poppa bear go back in hibernation. On the contrary it is Mr. Greenspan who is being childish. He must result to scare tactics because there is no inflation to protect us from. He has moved so much since Robert Rubin has resigned it's so obvious. But just wait when President Clinton appoints Rubin as Greenspan's replacement. The markets may initially sell off but then rally when they realize how much better our economy and monetary policy was when he was around to off set the Greenspan hokes.

Brian I don't understand your attack. Nobody owes anyone a living but we all have the right to go after our dreams and work at making a better life. Your friends at the FRB does not seem to believe this neither do you. I am sorry to disagree.
