Looks like another two week effort, good pump work "free!?" (lol).

Didn't you forgot the one where Chairman Mao approves the device for yellow whimps from his grave? <G> I did not have a full day to go through your many references so I may have missed that one.

PROPOSED MARKETS, IMMEDIATE AND FUTURE SALES GOALS

Message 10496748 - From the conference call on June 21, 1999:

Darby Macfarlane: "..In selecting our distributor from many companies' proposals, an important aspect of the Datex-Ohmeda's proposal was its strength in the Home Health Care Marketing channels. Most every potential distributor had the ability to handle the Hospital market, and the Pediatrician Market.."

From the President of Ohmeda Medical: "...We expect that our unique ability to coordinate distribution efforts between hospital, home, and pediatrician markets; as well as the ability to offer a complete jaundice management program will lead us to great success in this endeavor.."

Sheila Kempf VP Medical Division: "...the main objective during the next few years is to facilitate a change in the standard of care for jaundice management to include using non-invasive bilirubin monitoring for all infants after birth, upon discharge of the baby from the hospital and after discharge in the home, clinics and/or pediatricians offices......The immediate sales goal is to aggressively market to and penetrate the largest birthing hospitals of which 1000 such hospitals account for approximately 76% of the births in this country. Concurrently the physicians and home care agencies who service these hospitals will be persued..."

BASIC LAY DESCRIPTIONS OF JAUNDICE

lalecheleague.org - Easy to read article about a mother's experience of having an infant with jaundice:

"......My husband and I had not noticed our son's jaundice. It was our midwife who noticed a yellowish cast to his skin on a routine thirty-six hour home visit. She suggested that we take him to see a doctor the next day.

Early the next morning the doctor walked with us out into the bright Arizona sunshine so that he could get a good look at the baby's color. He poked his skin gently and told us that our baby did look jaundiced......."

baby-care.com - "Why is my baby jaundiced?"

"The word jaundice comes from the French word"jaune" which means yellow. Almost half of all full term babies andabout 75-80% of pre term infants will become jaundiced or appear slightly 'yellow or orange' tinged.

The most common form of jaundice in the newborn period is called "physiologicaljaundice". The cause of physiological jaundice is twofold...."

FREQUENCY OF TESTING (MONITORING)

siliconinvestor.com - Frequency of Testing - From The American Academy of Pediatrics:

".....It is not known at what bilirubin concentration or under what circumstances significant risk of brain damage occurs or when the risk of damage exceeds the risk of treatment. Concentrations considered harmful may vary in different ethnic groups or geographic locations and may be lower outside North America or northern Europe. Reasons for apparent geographic differences in risk for kernicterus are not clear......"

Message 1789161 - Due Diligence on newborn blood testing:

"......So, I contacted several people in the health care industry including medical technologists, hospital medical laboratory supervisors, neo-natal care specialists, pediatricians, and a pharmacist.

By law, hospitals are required to do a PKU test on newborns (requires drawing blood). Therefore, no matter how great the CCSI device is, blood will always be drawn from newborns......"
