ToySoldier - application programmers used all nines in the date field to indicate "END OF JOB".. This is a true statement, but most Legacy systems and most database systems I have seen would store this date as 090999. This is not all nines. While there may be some systems that store items without the zero's, I do not see this as a problem for most systems. Also, most programmers would not be checking a date field for nines to check for end of file. This would be about as smart as checking an amount field for nines (do any sales systems crash if they sell an amount of $9,999.99?). They would be checking a larger field or multiple fields for all nines. Ritch
