I think that respectable gun owners need a more moderate voice than the NRA, which often takes an extremist view that turns off a lot of undecided people. Common sense suggests that there are a lot of decent law abiding people who should be able to own guns and some dangerous jerks that shouldn't. I'd like to see less arguing of extreme views and more sensible discussion of a set of criteria that would help to separate the two groups.

All those great responsible gun owners are at risk of being robbed of their guns by the other kind of gun owners- and I STILL don't know why anyone needs an UZI. I know a lot of gun owners do NOT have their guns locked up in wall safes- frankly that scares me. We have enough respect for guns in our family to lock them up- they are locked up so well they are probably useless for home protection. So we probably will get rid of them. Does everyone YOU know have their guns locked up? Now if irresponsible gun owners weren't such a problem I would talk at length about all the wonderful gun owners- but frankly, we have some problems in gun land.
